The Central Electronics Centre (CEC) was established in 1971 within IITM with the main objective of servicing and maintaining the wide variety of sophisticated Electronic Equipment. The need for training service engineers for maintaining the Electronic Equipment was felt and training program, the first of its kind, in the country was started in the same year. Since then, conducting such training program has become one of the important activities of the Centre. Over the year centre has responded in the areas of testing and calibration. The testing and calibration labs are accredited for IEC/ISO 17025. Centre also support design and development in the area of electronics, instrumentation and solar photovoltaic systems.
CEC is housed in a dust-free environment of about 1200m2. The infrastructural and equipment facilities have been adequately strengthened over the years by successive collaborative Projects. The Centre has a team of qualified, experienced and talented staff members, trained in various fields of Electronics and Instrumentation.
CEC has created facilities in the area of Solar Photovoltaic system, advanced chemistry cell testing and EMI / EMC testing. These Laboratory facilities have been established to promote the R&D activities in these important thrust areas.
